BECON is available to all Broward County school children free of charge. Most programs are tailored from students from kindergarten through 5th grade. Other age groups can have programs created to fit their specific needs. 

BECON experiences include: 

"Welcome to Stranahan House"
Join the Stranahan House Educators as they introduce Stranahan House to students. Students will be able to ask questions about the historic home. 


"Meet the Stranahans"
Students will have the opportunity to learn about the Stranahans and other residents of historic home over the years. 

"Pioneer Show & Tell"
Students will compare and contrast pioneer period objects such as kitchen items and toys with their current day counterparts. 

"A Victorian Christmas Celebration"
Students will learn about Victorial Christmas traditions and how their customs have evolved over time into today's Christmas traditions.

"Virtual Story Time"
Join us for a special story time as we read Mitchell's Magical Day with Frank & Ivy Stranahan by Bill Sydnor. Students will see the Historic Stranahan House Museum through the eyes of Mitchell, a school boy on a field trip who is transported back in time to meet Frank and Ivy Stranahan themselves. 

"From Trading Post to Museum"
Join the Stranahan House Educators as they discuss with students about the many changes that Stranahan House Museum has undergone in its lifetime.
