BECON Video Conference

Stranahan House will be presenting Mysteries in History as part of the BECON-TV Video Conference starting in October 2008.

October 27 Mystery: Who is Edward Teach?

Bill Sydnor will be sailing into your classroom with lots of tales of the sea and his latest book "Mitchell's Magical Day on South Florida's Atlantic Coast."  He will cover everything you ever wanted to know about pirates.

November 24

Dr. Michele Williams, Director of the S.E. Region of Florida Public Archaeology Network at F.A.U. presents "A Prehistoric Thanksgiving." Students will get an overview of Native American foodways from the earliest arrivals to historic settlers will be discussed with an emphasis on how people have made a living off of the south Florida landscape for over 10,000 years.

 

December 8 Mystery: How many plums were in the plum pudding?                 

Students will hear about the Victorian traditions for the holidays. They will see and discuss how they compare to the way we celebrate the holidays today and gather clues to solve this weeks mystery.  Winners will receive a free tour and a two for one coupon for their parents to enjoy a regular tour of the house during the holiday.
