Exciting events throughout the year at the Stranahan House.

The Stranahan House Museum in Fort Lauderdale will host it’s annual fundraiser, The Pineapple Jam, on Friday April 9th at 6:30 PM.
Guests will enjoy scrumptious selections from a menu of “Floribean” foods while listening to the fabulous sounds of Steel Pan Music. The event will take place at the Stranahan House Museum grounds, our city’s most captivating venue on the New River. For those not familiar with the museum, it was the former home of Frank and Ivy Stranahan. Dating back to 1901, it is the oldest home in our city. It was the site of the original trading post in Fort Lauderdale where Frank Stranahan traded with the Seminole Indians and local settlers. The home has been completely and painstakingly restored with historical accuracy, allowing visitors to see what life was like in South Florida at the turn of the century.
Beyond it’s historical importance, the museum is a major educational highlight for school children throughout the area. Over four thousand school children visit the home each year to see how the settlers of our area lived. The funds from this event will help support the continuation of this very important experience for our children. Please join us for a relaxing and delightful evening at Stranahan House for a taste of the past while helping to support the important work the museum does for the community.
